At South Bend City Church we don’t want to just gather on Sundays, we want to grow in community with each other around the table. We model our tables after a common practice that Jesus had with the people he met, through sharing a meal, around a table, and growing in relationship together. This fall, we have created a few different ways for you to host or join a Table.
New to South Bend City Church Table
If you are feeling new to South Bend City Church, here’s a chance for you to hear more about who we are, how we practice together, and to meet our staff team, volunteer leaders, and others who are new to SBCC. We have several fall dates, September 10, October 1, and November 5, where we’ll meet after the 11am gathering and share a meal around a table up in the mezzanine. While this is something we hope for the future, childcare will not be provided for our fall date.
Please register for the New to SBCC Table date that you plan on joining us in-person or RSVP to our virtual option on October 2 at 8:30pm EST.
Student Tables
Student Table Kickoff is on September 10th from 6-8. Student tables, grades 6-12, will meet on 1st and 3rd Sundays during the school year from 6-8p at Studebaker 112. Conversations are led by adult mentors who also check in with students outside of tables. Our goal is to help students feel safe, to find belonging, and to explore life and faith together. Open Table
We realize that jumping into a Table that meets over the course of the year might feel overwhelming which is why we are trying an Open Table. Starting on September 24, Open Table will be at Studebaker 112 at 12:15pm on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. You can jump in once or you can join as many times as your schedule allows. If you are looking to connect with others from our community, this is a great start.
Please bring lunch for yourself or to share with others. Kids are welcome, but will be your responsibility as we will not be offering childcare at this time. If you have questions please email tables@southbendcitychurch.com.
Host a Table
We need more people to Host a table in their home, at a restaurant, or some where in the community. As a table host, you’ll facilitate a regular time and place for up to 12 people, roughly twice a month, where everyone is welcomed and honored, a meal is shared, and people are invited to reflect on the two questions that guide our Tables.
