2024 Christmas Offering
Each year, we celebrate the generosity of God at Christmas with a special offering. We contribute above and beyond our regular giving to address needs and pursue opportunities that align with our identity as a community of grace and peace for our city and the world. Our goal for this year’s offering was $50,000. We are so grateful to report that this year’s giving came in at $93,144.69. We are blown away by the generosity poured out this holiday season.
To resource our church community, we’ll:
- Pay for a second printing of our Advent guide, allowing more people to pray through the Advent season with art and reflections sourced from our community.
- Shore up our general fund by covering the gap between projected and actual giving year-to-date
To meet needs in our city, we’ll:
- Help expand the work of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northern Indiana Corridor. Possible objectives include adding a library to their club location at the Tribune, furnishing expanded space at the Tribune, and underwriting meals and field trips.
- We’re also applying for a grant that would add matching funds to what we give to the BGCNIC through our Christmas offering.
To invest beyond South Bend for the sake of the world, we’ll:
- Give to the Telos Group Peacemakers Fund, sending money directly to Palestinian and Israeli organizations that are doing work on the ground that honors the way of Jesus and the calling to love our neighbors as ourselves.
- Fund scholarships for our next pilgrimages with the Telos Group so that participation in these learning experiences isn’t limited to those with financial means.

November 24: Advent Guide Release
Through the generosity of last year’s Christmas Offering, and through the creativity of those who call South Bend City Church home, we were able to create an Advent Art Guide titled, “What Are You Waiting For?”. Be sure to check the digital version out on our library page or join us for a gathering this weekend to get your physical book (1 per household).
December 15: Kids Sing Gathering
During our Sunday morning gatherings, we will be led by our kids in a song and some readings. For more information, reach out to Karen Grant.
December 24: Christmas Eve Gatherings
Join us at 4p or 11p for our Christmas Eve Gatherings. Nursery will be available at the 4p gathering, but there will be no other kids classes that day. We’d love to have your whole family join us for these candlelight gatherings. If you’re a long-distance community member, or if you are traveling this holiday season, the full gathering will be available on the podcast as well.
December 29: NO GATHERINGS
