This year we have a couple dates to look out for over the holiday season. We’d love for you to join us for our in-person gatherings or for you to follow along through our podcast.
November 30: Advent Begins (Family Gathering)
This year, the first Sunday of Advent falls on a 5th Sunday, which means we get to begin this season together with our kids in gatherings. Nursery and pre-school will still be available for both gatherings, but kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade will join their adults in the gathering.
December 14: Kids Sing Gathering
During our Sunday morning gatherings, we will be led by our kids in a song and some readings. For more information, reach out to Karen Grant.
December 21: Longest Night Liturgy (via Zoom)
Join us as we gather online at 6p for a brief Longest Night liturgy. Becky Ykema will lead us in a guided time of reflection, song and prayer as we hold space for grief and longing, in a season often marked by joy and celebration. ZOOM LINK HERE!
December 24: Christmas Eve Gatherings
Join us at 4p or 11p for our Christmas Eve Gatherings. Nursery will be available at the 4p gathering, but there will be no other kids classes that day. We’d love to have your whole family join us for these candlelight gatherings. If you’re a long-distance community member, or if you are traveling this holiday season, the full gathering will be available on the podcast as well.
December 28: Winter Sabbath (NO GATHERINGS OR PODCAST)
We hope you enjoy time with loved ones as we take a week off before the new year! Our offices will be closed from December 25-January 1, 2026 for a winter break.
January 11, 2026: New to SBCC Table
After our normal 9a and 11a gatherings, we hope that those that are new to our community join us for the New to SBCC Table happening at the Tribune. We’ll get started around 12:15p and lunch will be provided. For more information or to RSVP (required), head here.
In addition to Sunday mornings, we have our Advent Guides available physically and digitally:
November 16-30: Advent Guides Available
Through the generosity of the 2023 Christmas Offering, and through the creativity of those who call South Bend City Church home, we were able to create an Advent Art Guide titled, “What Are You Waiting For?”. Last years Christmas Offering allowed us to print another batch of physical copies, which will be available leading up to the beginning of Advent. Be sure to check the digital version out on our library page if that’s an easier method or you’re a long-distance community member.
