This year, the SBCC community is invited to join one of our new neighbors, The Cathedral of Saint James or First Presbyterian Church, for their Ash Wednesday liturgies on Wednesday, February 14th. St. James will have two services this year — one at 7a that’s intended to be a quick stop on your way to school or work and one at 7p that is the full-fledged liturgy — while First Presbyterian will have a service at noon.
For those that are long-distance community members, we encourage you to join our friends at Good Shepherd New York for their online gathering.
This practice marks the beginning of Lent, a time of reflection and preparation as we move toward Holy Week. For those who wish to participate we will receive a sign of the cross in ash on our foreheads as a reminder of our mortality and an invitation into the holiness of the Lent season.
