Our friends at La Casa de Amistad have made us aware of a few ways that we can support them in the immediate future. Each year they throw a party with free food, immunizations, games, and feature a giveaway of 500 clear backpacks with school supplies towards students who might need them. This year, we get to give towards making this giveaway a reality and we can help out in a few different ways.
- Give to our Backpacks for the Back to School Celebration at La Casa de Amistad fund. This fund will go towards helping La Casa de Amistad give 500 backpacks and school supplies to students in need (they need $5,000 by July 31 to make this a reality).
- Volunteer with La Casa on Saturday, August 3 from 11a to 2p. They could use help in any capacity, from helping set up to helping assist handing out back packs and school supplies. Fill out the link to sign up, or email dara@lacasadeamistad.org with questions about volunteering.
La Casa de Amistad is an SBCC community partner that empowers the Latino/Hispanic community within Michiana by providing educational, cultural and advocacy services in a welcoming, bilingual environment. We had a chance to have a conversation with their Executive Director, Juan Constantino, this past spring in our gatherings.
