Tailgate with us in the Studebaker parking lot on Sept. 5!
For many of us in the South Bend area, fall means football and tailgating season! That’s why we decided to kick off fall with an SBCC tailgate in the Studebaker parking lot on Sunday, Sept. 5. We’ll gather for a time of connection over food and games at 11 a.m. instead of our weekly gatherings (so NO THURSDAY OR SUNDAY GATHERINGS on Sept. 2 & 5)!
Please plan to bring all your tailgating gear – tents, chairs, food, and friends! (Help us keep this a dry event – so no alcohol, please.) Feel free to coordinate with another family or two, and come grab your spot in the parking lot in front of Studebaker Building 113 (just off Lafayette Blvd.). There will be plenty of space to spread out.
We will also have several “open tailgates” with extra food to share if you’d like to plan to join one of those instead of bringing your own supplies. Those tailgates will be clearly marked for you to find them (we’ll have further instructions as you arrive). We’ll have a cornhole tournament, a roller rink, Gaga Ball, and more! Please let us know if you have a cornhole set you can bring or if you’d like to volunteer to help with the tailgate by emailing Ryan Yazel, our City Engagement Pastor.
No need to RSVP – just show up! We hope to see many of you and your families on Sunday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m.!
An update on weekly gatherings
Here’s a special message from our lead pastor, Jason Miller, on some important updates to our weekly gatherings. We are currently requiring masks in our main gatherings for individuals who are not fully COVID-19 vaccinated and in our Kids’ Ministry classrooms.
We’ve also recently made the difficult decision to suspend our weekly Thursday night gatherings as we adjust to busier life rhythms among staff, volunteers, and the rest of our SBCC community post-pandemic. Our goal is to care for each other well by easing some of the responsibilities held by volunteers and hope many of you who have been a part of our Thursday gatherings will be able to join us on Sunday mornings at 9 or 11 a.m. Our final Thursday gathering will be THIS THURSDAY, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. We’ll come together for the eucharist as a celebration of gratitude for all that we’ve experienced in our midweek gathering since we began.
As always, we welcome your feedback as we continue to discern what’s best for our community. Please feel free to send us a message!
